2014/16 Stoffel Vandoorne Original Used McLaren F1 Helmet

This is Stoffel Vandoorne’s first helmet he used in Formula 1 as McLaren 3rd driver in 2014. The helmet was first spotted in his tests with McLaren in 2014, it was used again in 2015 and finally in 2016 where the Sensodyne sponsor decal was added to the chin. Different sponsor configurations were added, removed or covered up depending on the season. Underneath the Honda H we can see a black circular decal believed to be covering up the Mercedes star, as his first test with McLaren in 2014 was when they used the Mercedes power plant. The helmet was also spotted in Vandoorne’s demo run at 2015 73rd Goodwood Festival of Speed when he was driving the McLaren M23.

Vandoorne started his career in karting like most open wheel drivers do. When finances allowed him to compete a full season he was Belgian KF2 Champion at the age of 16. In 2010 he moved up to F4 Eurocup which he where he won the championship that year. In 2011 he graduated to Formula Renault 2.o, by 2012 he was the series Champion. 2013 saw him join McLaren’s Young Driver Program as well as compete in Formula Renault 3.5, coming in runner up to that years Champion Kevin Magnussen.  In 2014, now McLaren’s 3rd driver, he moved to GP2, winning his first race and going on to be runner up that season. The following season, Vandoorne would go on to win the GP2 title in dominant fashion , breaking or equaling all of Lewis Hamilton’s & Nico Rosberg’s GP2 records in the process. In 2016 while waiting for a seat to open up at McLaren he drove in Super Formula securing 2 wins, ending the season 4th and the top Honda engined driver. His first F1 race happened in 2016 replacing the injured Fernando Alonso at the Bahrain Grand Prix, he would go on to out qualify his teammate Jenson Button in 12th and would finish 10th, the first reserve driver to score points on his debut since Sebastian Vettel did it in 2007. Vandoorne drove for McLaren in 2017 finishing the season 4 points behind teammate Fernando Alonso, resulting in staying with McLaren for another season before switching to Formula E.

After finishing runner-up in 2019/20 season, Vandoorne is leading the 2021/22 Formula E Championship as well as being Mercedes F1 team’s simulator driver and one of it’s reserve drivers. Vandoorne also races in Endurance racing seeing numerous podiums and a 3rd and 2nd place finishes in 24h of Lemans 2019 and 2021 respectively.

Don’t hesitate to add this first F1 helmet from one of racing’s exciting talents, who’s story is still being written.

The helmet comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
