2013 Lewis Hamilton, race used Mercedes AMG Petronas steering wheel
This is one of the original steering wheels used by four times World Champion Lewis Hamilton during the 2013 FIA Formula 1 season.
Hamilton used this steering wheel to control his Mercedes F1 W04 around many of the tracks during his first season with the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team. This highly complex piece of computerised equipment controls many systems of the car with a twist or flick of a switch or press of a button, including suspension, fuel, DRS and of course gear shifting, to name just a few of the functions it is able to manage. It also gives the driver feedback on how the car is performing and any information that the team or track officials need to communicate to drivers through the digital display and lighting systems.
Hamilton, as do all Formula 1 drivers learn how to use their steering wheels until it becomes second nature and instinctive. Apart from the engine is one of the most important pieces of equipment on a modern day Formula 1 race car.
This carbon fibre steering wheel is complete and in full working order and can be powered up with the right connections and power supply. Its Mercedes identifying plate is attached to the back. This is a very rare item and very few steering wheels from the recent seasons cars appear on the collector’s open market. So do not miss this opportunity to own this great unique piece of racing equipment.
