2009 Felipe Massa Signed Race Used Ferrari F60 F1 Belts
These hard to come by Sabelt belts strapped Felipe Massa in his Ferrari F60 during the 2009 Formula 1 season. Felipe hand signed the upper strap of the belt in black marker.
Massa only competed in 10 races that year as his season was cut short due to injury. During the 2nd qualifying session of the Hungarian GP, a spring broke loose from Rubens Barrichello’s car, flew back and struck the following Massa . The spring broke though the visor and helmet, injuring Massa. Massa sat out the rest of the season to recover… and recover he did. At his first race of the 2010 season he qualified second on the grid and then backed that up with second on the podium. He continued racing in F1 until the end of the 2017 season.
This accident introduced the Zylon visor panel to all open wheel race helmets to further strengthen that area to avoid penetration and prevent a similar injury from happening again.
Felipe Massa had a fantastic F1 career, the highlight was almost winning he championship in 2008 missing it by 1 point to Lewis Hamilton, despite having more wins than Hamilton. His time in F1 saw him start 269 races, resulting in 11 wins, 41 podiums, 16 poles and 15 fastest laps.
