2003 Michael Andretti Race Used Andretti Green Racing Bell T5 IndyCar Helmet
Fantastic looking helmet used by American IndyCar legend and former CART IndyCar Champion Michael Andretti. It was worn during the four-race events (photo matched at the Indy 500) that Andretti competed in during the 2003 IndyCar series and just after his run in the Indy 500, which he led for 28 laps before mechanical failure sidelined him. After which Andretti would call time on his full time driving career and enter into team ownership. He did, however, run two more Indy 500’s before fully retiring from driving. He is now statistically one of the most successful driver/modern-day race team owners in the history of American open-wheel racing.
This sharp looking Bell T5 helmet has the iconic Andretti design that has been passed down the racing family from father Mario. The metallic silver helmet has the wide, blue-edged red chevron stripe running over the helmet back to the top and has an Andretti Countdown To Indy sticker applied to the crown. Around its bottom is a ‘Stars & Stripes’ motif that Michael would add to the iconic design. It has the Andretti name on either side and sponsors/supplier decals from Honda and Archipelago applied to its chin and front top. The visor bares a 7-Eleven sun visor strip. The helmet comes as last used at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with track dirt and grime still present on it and Hans clips, aero wickers and tube Velcro still attached. Please note, the helmet radio has been removed.
This fabulous helmet was used by a member of the most recognized family name in motor sports and would be a perfect addition to any collection.
The helmet comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
