1992 Page Jones USAC Midget Car Race Used Helmet
Helmet race worn by Page Jones during the 1992 USAC Midget car season (photo-matched). Jones son of IndyCar Legend Parneli and brother to P.J. started his career in karting, he soon moved up to racing midgets and was fast become a top rated driver and was considered by many a champion in the making. He had already started looking to the future by driving in Indy Lights and minor NASCAR events when tragedy struck. Leading in a Sprint car event at Eldora Speedway in 1994, he hit the wall. While his car rolled back across the track he was hit on the head by a passing car suffering a severe brain injury. Fortunately after many years of recovery, Jones now lives to tell the tail but the injury forced him to retire from the sport.
This Simpson helmet is painted in the colors that Jones used for most of his career. It has a black top half edged with two silver pinstripe lines. The bottom half is in yellow fading to orange and has Jones name in black on the chin and to either side that are accented by six black lines that run around the rear of the helmet. It also has a Hooters visor strip and retains its original USAC tech sticker.
