1983 Mark Alderson Race Used USAC Silver Crown/IndyCar Helmet
$1,200.00
Well used helmet worn by American open-wheel racer Mark Alderson. A regular at midwest dirt tracks, Alderson had a career of over thirty years that saw him driving mainly in USAC Silver Crown cars. He also had stints in Sprint cars and had a couple of IndyCar drives as well.
This Bell helmet shows all the scars of a season or more of battles on dirt tracks. Used during the 1983 season where he had nine Silver Crown and nine Sprint car races. He also attempted to qualify for one IndyCar race using this helmet. The all-white helmet has black and red pinstriping running around its bottom and Alderson’s name ‘Mark’ runs on either side in large blue letters. There are Valvoline decals just under his name and on the left side and it still retains its USAC tech paper sticker. The chin of the helmet has an ESPN sticker and there are Bell helmet oval stickers on its top front and bottom rear. It remains exactly as it was last used by Alderson with its Velcro neck protector fastening and D ring attached, and mud and oil splashes still on the helmet.
This helmet comes from the famous Ron Burton Collection. The helmet is one of 170 helmets which were on display at the famous Union Jack Pub in Speedway (Indianapolis) Indiana. Ron Burton was a famous artist who often traded his paintings with drivers for one of their helmets. We are proud to offer this unique collection of many rare helmets and artwork.
The helmet comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
