1980 Rare Jebs ‘Clay Regazzoni Edition’ Replica F1 Helmet
This rare vintage helmet was produced in very limited numbers by Italian helmet company Jeb’s in 1980 and is not to be confused with a modern reproduction helmet. This helmet is a factory-issued ‘Clay Regazzoni Edition’ helmet produced to honor the Swiss Formula One racing driver who was the only top-line driver to endorse and wear Jeb’s products. It is a full (for the time) Formula One spec fiberglass helmet and is the exact same model as Regazzoni would have used for many years in his racing career. It was manufactured in 1980 which would, unfortunately, be the same year that Regazzoni was involved in a career-ending wreck at the Long Beach Grand Prix in California which left him paralyzed from the waist down.
The helmet has a white base color with an overlaying dark blue design that is edged with red pinstripes. It is in excellent overall original condition for a helmet that is nearly forty years old. It has some scratches and scuffs from previous use. The liner material and padding is in very good condition but does show some sun fading to the fabric. Decals are in fairly good condition and mostly intact except for a few spots of scuffs, cracks, and some edge peeling. The clear face shield visor has numerous small age and stress cracks, as well as scratches from being cleaned. Overall, this helmet would make a great display piece or a splendid candidate to be converted into a full Regazzoni replica helmet.
The helmet comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity.
